Oot and Aboot: Keep on Shining!

Making the move to Toronto a couple of months ago, I had read my oath to solemnly swear that I will take the winters for what it’s worth; complain when it rains, only say “I’m cold” when the temperature reaches below -10 degrees Celsius, say “I prefer snow over rain” and save my long johns for the days with wind chill.

Luckily enough for me it is now December and this is the first since 1937 that there has yet to be a snowfall throughout the entire month of November and, so far, not much for December either in the Greater Toronto Area. This has made my life of lugging around an extra pair of John Varvatos loafers to the office while wearing my rubber Tretorn boots, which are acceptable on the east to be worn with your jeans tucked into to prevent snow and salt staining the bottoms of your Nudie jeans, or whatever your denim choice may be, nonexistent… so far.

Although I’ve been finding myself stuck in my office for hours unheard of by any west coaster, there is a sense of liveliness when that beam of sun shines through your window glaring off the glass building across the way into your office or room that makes these negative temperatures, positive.
